In the 2010 General Election all three main parties pledged to introduce the right of citizens to recall MP’s for serious wrongdoings. Six months ago the committee established to bring forward proposals on this issue reported to the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg.
It is high time that Nick Clegg brought those proposals before the House of Commons for implementation in order that the ordinary citizens of this country can determine for themselves whether the behaviour of house flipping MP’s or spending time in the Australian Outback on a TV show is the best use of MP’s time.
More importantly, whether using their influence in order to promote the interests of companies that pay them for advice is an appropriate way for our representatives to behave.
A petition has been launched on the HM Government E-Petitions site, and I would urge all readers of this blog to sign the petition and spread the word.
