First things first. It is winter not autumn.
Being winter it is bleak, and no doubt the Chancellor’s statement will match.
Rather than paw through pages of bleakness, I will go to the Christmas Market with colleagues from work this evening and help make the economy grow as I warm myself with a mug of mulled something, eat some wild boar burgers or paella and generally ignore the bleakness, it will still be bleak tomorrow and with snow in places to add to that cold wintery bleakness sort of feel.
The robin was back on the allotment on Sunday, always a sign that it’s going to be bleak.
